Weekly Update – August 20, 2013

Unserved Taskforce Call

Many of our member libraries participate in significant outreach to communities unserved by a library system. The Executive Committee has approved the creation of a taskforce to create a statement regarding the consortium’s stance on providing library service to these unserved communities and to identify best practices recommendations for the consortium. If you are interested in participating on this taskforce, please contact the Evergreen Indiana Coordinator. Once we have a roster of interested members, dates and methods for meetings will be set. Thank you in advance for your constructive and thoughtful contributions!

Bringing Together Indiana Libraries

The Resource Sharing Committee brings together representatives from Evergreen Indiana, ALI (Academic Libraries of Indiana) and special libraries from throughout Indiana. They have announced the formation of a new taskforce to identify existing discovery service options to provide universal access to the complete collections of Indiana libraries to Indiana residents. They are soliciting members to serve on this taskforce. If you are interested in participating, please contact Committee Chair Collette Mak.

Committee News

On August 13, 2013, the Executive Committee approved an Amendment to the Membership Agreement addressing reparations due for a portion of services and materials received by members exiting the consortium. Member libraries will be receiving a copy of the amendment for local approval in the US mail. Please have your boards review and approve the amendment and send it back in to the Indiana State Library for retention as soon as possible. Please contact the Evergreen Indiana Coordinator with any questions.
