Holds Patch Trial Will Create “First-Come, First-Served” Holds

Currently there is a delay for holds from other libraries for items. If Anytown Public Library checks in materials for which no Anytown Public Library patron has a hold, but other Evergreen Indiana library patrons have holds on that item, the system has a delay of two days so that Anytown Public Library patrons might find the item on the shelf. The unintended result of this delay is that it causes Anytown Public Library to check in the item, shelve it, then two days later retrieve it from the shelves for a hold.

The Executive Committee, voted to remove the delay and to change proximity rules to “first-come, first-served,” on a trial basis starting this week.  Evergreen will will be down beginning at approximately 8 PM starting this Sunday for approximately 2 hours.

The Executive Committee will evaluate the effects of this patch at the October Executive Committee meeting. Libraries should expect to see more items transiting more quickly for the first few days after this patch is in place.

Migration News

The migration of the Attica Public Library, Batesville Memorial Public Library, and Tyson Library Association, Inc. earlier this week brings to 76 the number of libraries live on Evergreen Indiana. Evergreen Indiana now serves over 700,000 patrons.
