Weekly Update — December 12, 2017

Committee Meetings

  • The Cataloging Committee met at 10am on December 7 at Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library (ZIONS-HUS).
  • The Executive Committee will meet at 1pm on December 12 at the Indiana State Library (STLIB). The meeting will be streamed and recorded. Topics up for discussion include: Revision of the patron privacy policy to enumerate agencies eligible for disclosures, transit subsidies, the webclient, Executive Committee communications, a new director welcome program, retention of holdings after payment, autodeletion of patrons with outstanding fines, and responsible fiscal agents for the consortium.
  • The Patron Services Committee will meet at 10am on December 19 at Greenwood Public Library (GWOOD).

2017 Evergreen Indiana Tour Update – October 31-November 1, 2017

Nancy Disbro joined us as an Executive Committee representative for our Halloween stops in Dekalb and Huntington counties!

Weekly Update — November 21, 2017

2017 Hack-A-Way Results!

Several bugs fixes and patches affecting Evergreen Indiana are the result of what some Evergreen developers are calling “one of the most productive [Hack-A-Ways] (if not the most)” to date! Among them are the search fixes announced on the Support listserv and the patch to port Copy Templates from the staff client to the web client. All completed fixes and patches have already been loaded on our servers.

Hacking away at Evergreen


We’re live at the Evergreen International Hack-A-Way right now! This is the second year Evergreen Indiana has been fortunate enough to welcome Evergreen developers from across the US for a 3 day hackathon. Bugs, interface updates, and new features are all on the agenda as 20+ specialists collaborate to improve Evergreen!

Welcome Ohio Township Public Library System


Ohio Township Public Library System (OHTWP) migrated into Evergreen Indiana on October 19, 2017! Ohio Township PL is a large class B library with 3 branches located on the Ohio River near Evansville featuring a collection of over 170,000 items!

Migration News

On October 19, 2017, Ohio Township Public Library will open their doors as the latest active Evergreen Indiana member! The ISL team is currently on-site prepping staff for the open. The cataloging freeze has been lifted.

Committee News

The eContent Committee met at the Indiana State Library on October 10, 2017 at 10 am. Among the discussion topics were the implementation of the Advantage Plus program for the eIndiana group and Kanopy (a streaming media vendor). An update will be sent out the eContent listserv.

The Executive Committee met at the Indiana State Library on October 10, 2017 at 1 pm. Items on the agenda include a replacement for the Patron Services Committee, updates to proof of residency requirements, and a revision of the patron privacy policy to enumerate agencies eligible for disclosures. The meeting was broadcast and recorded.

Migration News

Please note that there will be a modified cataloging freeze in place that week leading up to the go-live. Area libraries are invited to send staff to mentor OHTWP staff that day! Please let me know if you’ll be able to attend.

Pest Procedures Released

After many months of work and revision, the EI pest procedures have been released for libraries to implement. Please review these procedures!

Committee News

Membership News

Please welcome Whiting Public Library to Evergreen Indiana! Their application was approved by the Executive Committee last week, and they will be migrating in February.

Migration News


The cataloging parties at Knightstown and Spiceland were very successful! The Knightstown gathering brought in 5 guest catalogers processing 517 items; this brings Knightstown to almost 60% processed. The Spiceland group was just three catalogers, but 453 items were entered in a single day!

2017 Tour Update: Region 3

Executive Committee member Nancy Disbro (ADTPL) (the regional representative to the committee for that area) joined us on the road as we visited most of the Region 3 libraries this week!

New Circ Mod Available

The newly approved circ mod, “equipment-restricted”, is now available for use. We will make the adjustments to the existing circ mod so that it follows approved revision on September 15. As a quick reminder, the new circ mod will have the short circ durations, no renewals, and be limited to adult accounts (based on age). The existing circ mod will move to longer durations, retain the renewal, and be available for all ages.

ECKRT Call for Assistance

Eckhart Public Library continues their recovery and are at the phase where they need additional shelving, tables, and comfortable seating. If you are in the Northeast region (or are willing to bring things up) and have anything you’d like to share, please email the library!

Holiday Closure

The STLIB will be closed in observance of the Labor Day holiday September 2-4, 2017. INfoExpress deliveries will also be suspended.
